The Empowered female athletes of the WNFC

In 2021, I had the opportunity to travel to Dallas, Texas to serve as an honorary Captain for the Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC) IX Cup Championship weekend. I was inspired by the passion, commitment, and work ethic these talented athletes bring to the game of football. Throughout the weekend, I saw the grit, determination, and fire of the women of the WNFC. And my goodness could they BALL! From the first down to trophy presentation, they did not stop working.

As CEO Odessa Jenkins shared with me - “We exist to help women and girls reach their full potential through the power of football. We are the highest level of women's tackle football in the US. We are a sports league. We are content creators. We are the future of the game!”

As an uncle to eight nieces, I know how important it is for people to have role models. If children can see people like them succeeding, they know that they can also achieve greatness. As the saying goes: “If you can see it, you can be it!” We know that sport has the power to change lives. For women and girls, sports not only teach teamwork, self-reliance, resilience and confidence, they help women and girls defy gender stereotypes and social norms and create inspiring role models. #RepresentationMatters

That is why I am so honored to share that I have joined the Advisory Board of the Women’s National Football League. Join me in cheering for the WNFC when the 2022 season kicks off on April 2, 2022. Watch the games on Vyre Network, attend a game in person, or follow on social media [@wnfcfootball]. You won’t be disappointed!
